FREQUENT QUESTIONS:

LIFETIME WARRANTY FOR CARBON PRODUCTS

Industry Nine has gone to great lengths to ensure that they offer the best carbon wheels available. We are so confident in our wheels that we now offer a limited lifetime warranty on all carbon wheel sets sold after January 1, 2018.

The lifetime limited warranty applies to all complete carbon wheel sets of the Industry Nine brand. Under the lifetime limited warranty, Industry Nine certifies that all wheels are free from defects in materials and workmanship* and applies to the original owner.**

Industry Nine's carbon wheel systems are designed for daily use and are tested to ensure that the wheel strength far exceeds the stresses endured during their intended use.*** You can be confident that if you are using an Industry Nine carbon wheel set, you are covered.

*The warranty applies to all original owners who purchase their wheels from an authorized Industry Nine dealer or directly from Industry Nine; wheels purchased through third-party sites are not covered by the warranty.

***If you are using the wheels within the scope of their designated use, you are covered. If you hit a tree at 30 mph or come up short on a jump while riding your road bike in the bike park and break a wheel, we have an excellent crash replacement program.

WARRANTY OF ALUMINUM PRODUCTS

We offer a two-year warranty against defects in materials or workmanship on all Industry Nine products. The product must be purchased new through an authorized dealer and is valid exclusively for the original owner. Industry Nine will repair or replace, at our discretion, any affected component or assembly. The warranty will apply to stems, MatchStix, hub shells, axles, drive mechanisms, spokes, and rims.

Industry Nine cannot provide warranty support or assume liability for hubs or wheels used outside of their intended purpose. This warranty covers materials and workmanship but does not cover normal wear and tear, such as bearing wear, or damage caused by a lack of appropriate service intervals.

Spokes will be covered against defects, but not against trail accidents, drivetrain or frame mechanical failures, or intrusions of foreign objects.

Aluminum rims are covered by the two-year warranty, but are not guaranteed against impacts or accident damage. The use of unauthorized aftermarket adapters and/or modification of axles, hubs, spokes, or any other component may void the warranty. Modifying the rim finish or graphics using solvents or chemical products will void the rim warranty. The use of rim inserts, the type of tire casing, or tire air pressure does not alter or modify this warranty. Alloy rims may still be susceptible to impact damage when using inserts and/or heavy-duty tire casings and/or inflated at higher pressures.

We believe in our product and will aim to give the benefit of the doubt to Industry Nine customers in any case where the cause of the failure cannot be determined.

STEMS WARRANTY

Industry Nine "stems" are covered by a limited two-year warranty against defects in materials or workmanship. This warranty applies to the original owner and does not cover damages from accidents, abuse, damage due to incorrect installation, cosmetic changes due to aging, or use of the product outside its intended purpose.

Please note that bicycle parts are subject to damage from impacts and material fatigue over time, and all bicycle products have a finite lifespan depending on the type and frequency of use. We recommend that you have your stem and other handlebar components inspected at least once a year by a qualified mechanic to ensure the safety of the rider.

Warranty claims are managed at the sole discretion of Industry Nine, and warranty products must be returned to the Industry Nine dealer where the product was purchased or directly to Industry Nine, and an original receipt is required.

MATCHSIX WARRANTY

The Industry Nine Matchstix tools are covered by a limited two-year warranty against defects in materials or workmanship. This warranty applies to the original owner and does not cover damages from accidents, abuse, damage due to incorrect installation, cosmetic changes due to aging, or use of the product outside its intended purpose.

Warranty claims are managed at the sole discretion of Industry Nine, and warranty products must be returned to the Industry Nine dealer where the product was purchased or directly to Industry Nine, and an original receipt is required.

ALUMINUM SPOKES

Starting with a cross-sectional area 25-30% larger, our machined 7075-T651 aluminum has a tensile strength equal to any 14 gauge or 14/15 DB spoke available. However, functionally, the Industry Nine spoke is much more robust because we've removed all the weak points (known as stress risers) inherent to the design of a traditional hooked steel spoke. First off, the spoke has no bend. This isn't something new, but it remains a smart design. Most steel spokes fail in the middle of the bend or at the first thread at the nipple end. By completely removing the bend, the spoke instantly becomes less prone to fatigue and stress failure. Secondly, the root diameter of the single-piece Industry Nine spoke's thread is actually larger than the diameter of the spoke's length. Other spokes fail at the first thread because the root diameter (the bottom of the "V" of the thread) is actually the smallest diameter of the spoke, right where the nipple's slight relative movements apply additional bending forces.

ENGAGEMENT POINTS

690 engagement points! While you digest that, here's a brief history lesson: In 2005, when Industry Nine introduced its original freehub design, we paved a new path for hub designs. Our two-phase ratchet mechanism with six pawls delivered 120 engagement points from its 60-tooth drive ring and nearly doubled the engagement range of any gear hub on the market at that time.

Hydra sets a new benchmark in terms of engagement and durability. By employing a 115-tooth drive ring and a continuous approach to the 6 pawls in the hub, Hydra achieves an astounding 690 engagement points. However, the real highlight is the inherent durability that comes with this design. In all ratchet-based hubs available in the market, there's always a chance that a single pawl carries the entire drive load. Due to the inherent flex present in all hubs (or generally, in bike parts, since no material is perfectly rigid), occasionally a pawl can drop into the drive ring and engage before the additional pawls in the same phase can. This creates significant cantilevered stress on the freehub, axle, and bearings, leading to wear on the freehub and bearings over time. Instead, Hydra uses this flex to its advantage. As one pawl engages, it always has additional pawls that are slightly out of phase behind it, so upon applying torque, even the slightest flex allows a second, third, or even fourth tooth to start sharing the load. This offers you the best of both worlds: a hub with instant engagement that ensures torque distribution across multiple points, without the mushy feel or energy buildup associated with clutch-type hubs. As a final touch, Hydra also addresses two other common issues in high-engagement hubs: noise and drag. Because of the drive ring's smaller teeth and the reduced spring preload this system permits, Hydra offers quieter operation and less drag than our Torch freehub system. Still, it retains the buzz that i9 wheels are known for, but with a smoother and more refined sound.

On the trail, Hydra allows surgical precision in responding to pedal inputs faster than you can imagine, be it for shredding technical climbs or delivering instantaneous acceleration.

ANODIZED PRODUCTS

Industry Nine has a small anodizing laboratory specifically designed for anodizing the parts we manufacture for your wheels and hubs. Anodizing is an electrochemical process that has many variables to which the operator must respond and adjust daily. While we try to keep our color parameters consistent, there can be variations from batch to batch, among different alloys, and from morning to evening. Due to these circumstances, we cannot guarantee that your Industry Nine hubs or spokes will match the paint or anodizing of others, nor the colors you see on screen.

Please note that all anodizing is subject to fading when directly exposed to UV rays, such as sunlight and tanning booths. Please avoid tanning with your bike or leaving it in your car for extended periods regularly if you want your i9 wheels to maintain their maximum shine. Certain cleaners can also affect the finish of your anodized parts. Use warm soapy water to clean your wheels and hubs.
